Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This policy explains what information GolfingRecord collects, why we use it, who processes it for us, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights available to you. It applies to the GolfingRecord website and the GolfingRecord apps for iPhone and Android (together, the “Service”).

Who we are

GolfingRecord is operated by Netsensia Limited in England. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].

Information we collect

Account and profile information

When you create an account, our sign-in provider gives us an account identifier and the name and email address you choose to share. We use these details to identify your account, secure sign-in, provide support, and send essential service messages. We never receive your Apple, Google, or other identity-provider password.

Golf records and content

We store the courses, tees, rounds, hole scores, handicap settings, statistics, friendships, and other golf information you choose to add. This is necessary to calculate scores and handicaps, show your history, and provide sharing features you request. Information you deliberately share with friends is visible to those friends.

Course searches and approximate location

When you search for a golf course, we record the search with your approximate location (country, region and city), as supplied by our network provider, so we can identify courses people want that we do not list yet. We do not record your exact location or IP address for this purpose.

Usage, device, and diagnostic information

Our servers receive ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect the Service, such as request time, browser or app type, requested page, and security logs. We use this information to operate the Service, investigate abuse, diagnose faults, and understand aggregate usage. Error reports may include an account identifier and technical state, but are not intended to contain scorecards, photos, or precise location.

How we use information

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how people find and use GolfingRecord. GA4 may use cookies or similar technologies and receive information such as page views, coarse device and browser details, and events describing use of a feature. Signed-in analytics uses a one-way hashed account identifier; we do not send your email address to Google Analytics. We use these reports in aggregate to improve the Service.

You can limit Analytics through your browser settings, by clearing or blocking cookies, or with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Staging and internal test environments do not send analytics to the production property.

Google AdSense and advertising

Some public content pages on the free website use Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies to deliver, limit, measure, and personalise ads, depending on your settings and the law that applies where you live. Premium account pages do not display ads.

Google explains how it uses information collected from websites and apps that use its services on How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can review or change personalisation choices at Google Ad Settings. Google’s own handling of information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

The GolfingRecord apps

Location

“Find courses near me” uses your device position to sort nearby courses. GPS round tracking, when you explicitly start it, records positions until you stop or finish the round, including while the app is in the background. That creates your route and shot positions. Tracks are stored with your account and are visible only to you and friends with whom you choose to share the round. You can stop tracking or revoke location permission at any time; the rest of the app continues to work.

Camera and photos

If you scan a paper scorecard, the photo you take or select is sent to our servers to read the scores and is discarded after processing. We do not use it for advertising or model training.

Sign in with Apple or Google

If you use Apple or Google sign-in, we receive the account identifier, name, and email address that provider shares with us. Apple may provide a private relay address when you select Hide My Email. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

App-store purchases

Apple or Google processes an in-app Premium purchase under its own terms and privacy policy. We never receive your payment-card details. RevenueCat processes purchase status, renewal, and expiry information for us so that we can unlock Premium on your account across the app and website.

Crash reports

We use Sentry to receive diagnostic reports when the website or app fails. Reports may be linked to an account identifier so we can tell whether a problem affects one person or many. We configure diagnostics not to include scorecard photos or precise GPS tracks.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary storage for sign-in and security, functional storage for preferences, Google Analytics for measurement, and Google AdSense on eligible public content pages. The separate Cookie Policy explains each category and the controls available to you.

Service providers and sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only where needed to run the Service, when you ask us to share it, or where the law requires it. Processors may include Auth0 or another configured identity provider for sign-in; Railway and other hosting or network providers for infrastructure; Google for Analytics and AdSense; Sentry for diagnostics; RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for app subscriptions; and our payment provider for website subscriptions. Each provider processes information under its own terms and our applicable data-processing arrangements.

Legal bases

Where UK GDPR applies, we process account and golf data to perform our contract with you; security, diagnostics, product improvement, and limited measurement for our legitimate interests; optional technologies where consent is required; and information necessary to meet legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and golf records while your account is active so the Service can provide your history. We keep security, support, transaction, and diagnostic records only as long as reasonably needed for their purpose or a legal obligation. You can delete individual information in the Service or delete your account from your profile. The account deletion page explains what is removed and what to do if you cannot sign in. Backups age out on their normal protected rotation.

International transfers

Our providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we use recognised safeguards such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections. Provider locations and safeguards can change as their infrastructure changes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information; to receive a portable copy; and to withdraw consent. Email us to make a request. We may need to verify that the account is yours. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data-protection authority.

Security

We use access controls, encrypted transport, managed infrastructure, monitoring, and backups to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, but we review and improve these measures as the Service changes.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the Service or our legal obligations change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a material change requires it. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].
