About Tijeras Creek
Tijeras Creek is a 12-mile-long creek that flows through the city of Rancho Santa Margarita in Orange County, California. It starts in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains and eventually empties into the man-made Lake Mission Viejo. The creek is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and is a popular destination for hiking and outdoor recreation. The name "Tijeras" means "scissors" in Spanish, which is likely a reference to the sharp rocks and steep terrain along the creek's banks. The creek is also home to several species of fish, including rainbow trout and steelhead trout, and is an important habitat for various bird species.
