Bowen is a town located in the Whitsunday region of Queensland, Australia. It is situated on the east coast of Queensland, approximately halfway between Mackay and Townsville.
One of Bowen’s main industries is agriculture, particularly the growing of tomatoes, which are exported both domestically and internationally. The town is often referred to as the ‘fruit bowl of the north’ due to the abundance of fruits and vegetables grown in the area.
Bowen is also famous for its beaches, with some of the most popular being Horseshoe Bay, Queens Beach and Rose Bay. Horseshoe Bay is the only beach in Bowen that is patrolled by lifeguards all year round.
The town is also surrounded by a number of popular tourist destinations, including the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsunday Islands and Cape Hillsborough National Park.
