Baltinglass is a small town located in County Wicklow, Ireland. It is situated in the scenic valley of the River Slaney and is surrounded by the gentle hills of the Wicklow Mountains. The name "Baltinglass" means "Town of the Ring Fort" in Gaelic.
Historically, Baltinglass was an important center of early Christianity in Ireland, and several significant ruins and landmarks from this period can be found in the area. These include the ruins of the Cistercian Abbey of Baltinglass, which was founded in the 12th century, and the ancient monastic settlement at Glendalough, which is located just a short distance away.
