About Butterfield Trail
Butterfield Trail is a historic 2,800-mile trail that runs from Missouri to California, passing through El Paso, Texas. The El Paso portion of the trail is a 27-mile scenic drive that takes travelers through some of the most stunning landscapes in the region. The trail offers breathtaking views of the Franklin Mountains, the Rio Grande, and the Chihuahuan Desert. It is a popular destination for hikers, bikers, and nature lovers seeking to explore the beauty of the Texas wilderness. The trail is named after the famous Butterfield Overland Mail Company, which used the route to deliver mail and passengers from 1858 to 1861. Today, the Butterfield Trail is a designated national historic trail and an important part of El Paso's cultural heritage.
